Happy Holidays

In case you hadn’t guessed, my “Couch to 5K” plans went down in flames. Thanksgiving week is (sort of) my excuse. I went to eat late after class that week, and didn’t think running on a full stomach was a good idea. As is often the case, all it seems to take is just one missed day to completely sink a new workout routine. But I’m done with class now, and so perhaps once I get back from Illinois I can renew my efforts in the new year. (It won’t be a resolution, just a new effort to change my habits.)

That said, aside from completing that class (I got an A!) there’s not much to report here. I’ve been doing a little more reading and writing, and I’m looking forward to more of the same in the new year. I’ve also filled out a couple applications for teaching jobs, just in case I can supplement my income a bit and ease the stranglehold my unsecured debt has had on me for a while. (And perhaps free up some credit for another impulsive trip to Japan in 2012!) I’ve also got some leads on some other part-time work, such as driving a car and some treatment-related stuff. My hope is to have my unsecured debt taken care of by the time I’ve finished paying off my car, because then I’ll just basically feel like I’m filthy rich with all those stifling monthly payments out of the way!

Any of you have any non-resolutions to share for the coming year?

  1. I’m not resolving to lose more weight. This year I did actually manage to lose 23 pounds. Perhaps I’ll try to tone up a bit. Or maybe I’ll just ring in the new year by turning 31. I have to do that anyway.

    Congratulations on that A!

  2. I am beginning an effort to reconnect with my spirituality. Daily meditation. Planning on going out to Santa Monica on Saturdays to sit with DSLA again.
