One year ago, I’d never been on a commercial plane. Since then, I’ve been on twenty-six airplanes. Twenty-four of them got off the ground with me on board. I’ve slept in three foreign countries and eight cities in five states. I’ve driven across six states.
And I still haven’t found what I’m lookin’ for!
I wrote a little something new last week. I call it “Starbucks Kills Dreams.” I’ve also been working on some fiction lately, including (finally) revising “Giving Up.” I also learned that The Nation accepts freelance submissions (or queries, anyway), and they pay $150 for “comments” of 750 words or so. That comes out to about 20cents a word, but only if I use all the right words in the right order
I’m thinking about writing something for them called “The New Cannibalism,” or something like that. We’ll see.
