The Fog

foggy Chicago skyline

We sat, we stared
the skyline smiled back at us
but the long bright day drew its curtains
as a mist crept into the air and
left the shapes, the sizes of things fuzzy to us

Much like the other day, when I wondered
whether I’d already gone to the bank
or maybe it was the post office
